Your practice is your business.

Visual Metronome is made by Notesmiths LLC. We collect only the bare minimum we need to serve you, and for a metronome that turns out to be almost nothing.

The short version

No account. You never sign up or sign in.
No ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind, in the app or on this website.
We never sell, rent, or share information about you. We don't have any to share.
No microphone, camera, location, contacts, or photos. The app never asks for them.
Your settings and recordings stay on your device, or in your own iCloud Drive if you use an iPhone or iPad.
The only companies involved are the ones that deliver the app and this website: Apple, Google, and Cloudflare.

What stays on your device

Everything the app needs to remember lives on your phone or tablet, and it never comes to us. For example:

Your tempo, click sound, volume, meter and accents
Your presets and the scene you chose
Settings like Battery Saver, flashing, and Live Activity controls
Your Tempo Lab recordings and tempo designs, including their names

Delete the app and all of it goes with it.

iCloud (iPhone and iPad only)

If you're signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive turned on, the app keeps your Tempo Lab recordings in the app's own folder of your iCloud Drive, so they show up on your other devices. That folder belongs to your Apple Account and is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We can't see it, open it, or get anything from it. On Android, recordings stay on the device.

Buying premium scenes

Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment and your payment details. All the app learns is whether a scene is unlocked, so it can show it to you. We never see your name, email address, or card.

Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and notifications

The playback controls on your Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island, and in Android's notification are drawn on your device from your own settings. Nothing is sent anywhere to show them.

This website

This site has no cookies, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking scripts. Our fonts, images, and videos all load from this site, not from other companies. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, has to handle some technical information to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, such as your IP address and the type of browser you use. Cloudflare handles that under its own privacy policy. We don't add to it or use it to learn about you.

The companies that help us

We rely on three companies to get Visual Metronome to you. Each one collects what it needs to do its job, under its own privacy policy:

Apple delivers the app on the App Store, processes App Store purchases, and runs iCloud. Apple's privacy policy
Google delivers the app on Google Play and processes Google Play purchases. Google's privacy policy
Cloudflare hosts this website. Cloudflare's privacy policy

Apart from what these companies handle, no information about you is kept anywhere. The app and this site never send anything to us. The app stores do give us summary reports, such as download counts and anonymous crash reports. They don't identify you.

Writing to us

If you email us, we'll use your message and address only to reply and help you, and we won't keep the conversation any longer than we need to.

Kids

Lots of young musicians use metronomes, and we're glad they do. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, that includes children.

Your choices

Because we don't hold information about you, there's nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete. You're always in control: delete Tempo Lab recordings in the app, turn off iCloud Drive for the app in your device's settings, or delete the app.

If this policy changes

If we ever change how Visual Metronome handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If a change ever means collecting something new, we'll tell you before it happens.
